Natalia Atzemian

Molecular Biologist & Geneticist

Ms. Atzemian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics (2021). In 2020 she conducted her bachelor thesis "Genetic Polymorphisms of the Cholesterol 7α-Hydroxylase Gene (CYP7A1): Associations with Chronic Diseases and Patients’ Response to Drug Therapy" in the Laboratory of Pharmacology at the Department of Medicine of Democritus University of Thrace under the supervision of Professor Vangelis Manolopoulos.

Since February 2019 she is a member of the Pharmacology Laboratory where, as part of the team, she volunteered and performed Precision Medicine experiments in Genomic, Epigenomic, and Pharmacogenomic research and its clinical applications. From June to July 2019, as part of her internship, she conducted clinical pharmacology analyses for therapeutic drug monitoring at the Clinical Pharmacology Laboratory of the Alexandroupolis University General Hospital.

Since July 2021 she is a Research Associate for the project “Individualised Medicine & Pharmacological Research Solutions Center (IMPReS)” (MIS 5047189) which is implemented under the Action “Support for Regional Excellence”, funded by the Operational Program “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation” (NSRF 2014–2020). Currently, Miss Atzemian is studying for her master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, at the Department of Medicine of Democritus University of Thrace. Her research interests lie in Pharmacogenetics, (Epi)genomics, Precision Medicine, and Bioinformatics, with an emphasis on cardiovascular diseases.
