Dr. Konstantinos J. Arvanitidis is a Lecturer of the Laboratory of Pharmacology of the Medical Department of DUTH since 2002 and has active participation in the Educational and Research activities of the Laboratory and additionally, since 2004 under the Supervision of Director Prof. V. Manolopoulos (and Prof. G. Kolios 2010-19) participates in the Laboratory of Clinical Pharmacology - TDM. He is a graduate of Molecular Biology with a specialization in Clinical Chemistry with a Master's Degree in the isolation and characterization of islet autoantibodies in autoimmune diabetes mellitus- IDDM (1995). He completed his PhD thesis at the Hematology Clinic of the Department of Medicine of DUTH, under the supervision of Professor G. Bourikas (2002), on the analysis of mutations in the tumor suppressor genes p53 & IRF-1 in B-lymphoproliferative disorders. Recently (2019) he completed his studies in Medicine at DUTH and acquired a Medical Degree. During his doctoral dissertation, he worked as a visitor-researcher for six months in the Division of Tumor Biology, at the Dept. of Cell and Molecular Biology, Umeå University in Sweden, studying the effect of TGF-β pathway on Human Germ-line IgA genes in the laboratory of Professor P. Sideras.He has worked as a junior Researcher in European programs (Career 1997, PENED 1999, EPEAEK etc.). As a postdoctoral fellow, he has worked in the fields of Pharmacogenomics, Mucosal Immunology and Experimental Pharmacology in the Laboratory of Pharmacology, of the Department of Medicine of DUTH and participates as speaker in many Postgraduate Programs of the Department of Medicine and others. From September 2021 until today he is the Associate Principal Investigator in the NSRF program entitled - Subproject 3 "Democritus University of Thrace, participation in the Network" of the Act "STRATEGIC EXPANSION OF THE GREEK BIORBANK INFRASTRUCTURE" (MIS 5028275). In addition, since December 2020 he participates in the project "pancreatic liquid: a diagnostic tool of liquid biopsy for the personalized management of the diabetes type II (MIS 5069882), and since 2021 participates as a member of the steering committee at the Individualized Medicine & Pharmacological Research Solutions Center (IMPReS) of the Laboratory of Pharmacology (MIS 5047189). Since June 2020, he is the Head Molecular Biologist - Doctor of Molecular Diagnosis section of "Demokritos" Diagnostic Laboratories. His research work has high impact with more than 900 citations (H factor: 16 and i10 index 21 - G Scholar: https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=e7JMXJ8AAAAJ&hl=en  Furthermore, he serves as a reviewer for peer-reviewed scientific journals (Elsevier and others).  His research interests lie in the field of Translation Medicine and more specifically in the development and application of diagnostic tools and biomarkers for the prognosis of chronic and autoimmune diseases.
